Lithology and Thickness
Lower part is composed of medium- and fine-grained sandstones intercalated with gritstone, thin-bedded conglomerate, siltstone, mudstone and coal beds. Upper part is composed of conglomerate, intercalated with sandstone and thin-bedded acid volcaniclastics; with a thickness of about 1144 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its basal part is in a disconformable contact with the underlying Banshidingzi Fm. It Nanloushan region of Jilin, the schematic stratigraphic column indicates it can be unconformable on the late Triassic Lujiatun Fm.
Upper contact
Regionally, the next younger unit is indicated as Xiajiajie Fm
Regional extent
It is distributed largely in the areas of Taiyang Ridge, Liushuhezi and Bamianshi of the Shuangyang Basin. In addition, the conglomerates intercalated with volcanic clastic deposits exposed in the area of Sihetun Village of Huadian County may also belong to the formation.
